State ABC Commission Chairman, Jim Gardner, to Address Addiction/Recovery Conference about Underage Drinking
17th Annual Professional Conference Hosts Lunch Speaker
Jim Gardner, Chairman of the State ABC Commission, will address the Carolinas Conference on Addiction and Recovery in Morganton on Wednesday, November 4. The annual conference is hosted by Burke Recovery. It will be held this year at First United Methodist Church. Chairman Gardner will speak at lunch at 12:30pm.
Gardner’s distinguished record of public service includes being a former United States Congressman and Lt. Governor of North Carolina. He was a co-founder of Hardee’s Food Systems. Gov. Pat McCrory appointed Jim Gardner to serve as chairman of the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission in February 2013.
The North Carolina Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Commission has implemented a high-profile campaign to address the issue of underage drinking called TalkItOutNC. Building on the ABC Commission’s TalkItOutNC television and billboard campaign, as well their staff support, Burke Substance Abuse Network (BSAN) has added strength to our community’s Underage Drinking Initiative. BSAN’s Underage Drinking Initiative is funded by the NC-DHHS/DMHDDSAS through the NC Coalition Initiative (NCCI). Parents, youth, business, and those who are interested in getting involved, can learn more about BSAN at www.BurkeSubstanceAbuseNetwork.wordpress.com.
Anyone interested in attending the lunch featuring Jim Gardner should reserve a seat by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. There is a $10 charge for lunch.
